Visiting Taiping or Kuala Sepetang and plan to stay overnight? Raintown Inn is a new homestay worth considering. Previously a single-storey bungalow , the building was fully renovated with new tiling, bright interior, and more important, ample parking space with concrete floor. We stayed there during our Kuala Sepetang trip and our experience was a positive one.

It was Dec 2016 when we were planning for a 2D1N trip to Kuala Sepetang/Taiping, and we stumbled upon Raintown Inn in Facebook when we were searching for an affordable hotel. The homestay is located southwest of Taiping town, next to a flyover along the main road to Kuala Sepetang. To reach the homestay, one may need to make a U-turn below the flyover if he/she is coming from Taiping town. Next to the homestay is Hon San Si 凤山寺 Chinese Temple.

We communicated with the owner through their official Facebook page:

Early bird promotion was RM88 per night. As for the payment (RM88 + RM50 deposit), we banked in to owner's Maybank account. To be honest, we were a bit worry at first but fortunately things went well. When we arrived, the owner issued us a receipt. As a reminder, keep the receipt well as it will be used to refund your RM50 when checking out.

The building was a single-storey bungalow with large compound. If you take a look on Google Streetview dated 2014, the unit was actually an old residential house similar to those built in 70's with large compound.

Today, not only the building was fully renovated, the compound was turned into concrete floor allowing guest's cars to park around. Ample parking space is available at the backyard.

We reached the place before noon and the room was yet to be ready. No worry as we planned to visit Kuala Sepetang first. The Chinese lady owner passed us the room key so that we could walked into our room directly when we were ready to call it a day.

Our lucky number was 101 - a room at the front end. You can't really tell that it is an old building from inside as the interior is fully renovated and repainted, from top to bottom.

Our room was spacious, much spacious than a budget hotel and just like a master bedroom during good-o-day. Some basic facilities such as table, kettle, TV and mineral water were also provided.

All-new floor tiling can be seen for both bedroom and toilet, just like a modern hotel.

Hot shower was soothing especially after walking under the sun for the whole day.

Right in front of our room is a public area which used to be a hall back in good-o-day. Perhaps a minor drawback was that the room was not so soundproof and you still could hear guests talking at the corridor. Also, as our room was near to the main road and we forgot to tighten blinds in our room, causing road noise to be heard and we had difficulty to fall asleep.

As a whole, Raintown Inn is a new homestay in Taiping worth considering thanks to its refurbished building, clean and bright interior. Raintown Inn can now be book from Booking.com as well.
