Visiting Taiping or Kuala Sepetang and plan to stay overnight? Raintown Inn is a new homestay worth considering. Previously a single-storey bungalow , the building was fully renovated with new tiling, bright interior, and more important, ample parking space with concrete floor. We stayed there during our Kuala Sepetang trip and our experience was a positive one.

Taiping is not all about lake and zoo. For instance, one can visit the oldest coffee mill in Malaysia - Antong Coffee Mill 安东咖啡厂. The attraction is located right below a flyover near Taiping train station (KTM). For first timers (including us), they may miss the junction and we suggest them to use Waze for navigation if needed.

Other than lake gardens and zoo, Spritzer EcoPark is a considerably new attraction in Taiping in which you can easily spend 2-3 hours there playing 18-holes mini golf, witness 214 millions years cactus rock, indulge upscale meal at STG Cafe and of course, learn more about the renowned mineral water company. Feeling a bit skeptic at first, we never expected we could finish playing 18-holes and even bring some “balls” home.

Ipoh is also known as Hill City in which the city is surrounded by hills with some of them containing limestone caves opened for public. If there is only one cave you need to visit in Ipoh, we recommend Kek Look Tong 极乐洞 - a well-maintained, breezy limestone cave with high ceiling and a landscape garden. It is also a famous morning exercise place for locals.
